The terms of reference of the Action and Support Expert Group (ASEG) were adopted at ExCom 12 in 2020, with the first meeting of the expert group taking place in 2021. ASEG currently comprises 19 members, including 4 ExCom members serving as facilitators of the expert group.
The work of the ASEG focuses on strategic workstream (e) of the current five-year rolling workplan of the ExCom, which focuses on enhancing cooperation and facilitation in relation to action and support, including finance, technology and capacity-building, to address loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change. Recognizing the urgency of enhancing mobilization of action and support to address loss and damage associated with the adverse effects of climate change, ASEG has developed a focused Plan of Action, avoiding duplication of existing efforts, and has commenced its implementation in 2021.
