In accordance with Article 4, paragraph 19, of the Paris Agreement, all Parties should strive to formulate and communicate long-term low greenhouse gas emission development strategies, mindful of Article 2 taking into account their common but differentiated responsibilities and respective capabilities, in the light of different national circumstances.
The CMA, by its decision 1/CMA4, paragraph 24, urged Parties that have not yet done so to communicate, by the fifth session of the Conference of the Parties serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Paris Agreement, long-term low greenhouse gas emission development strategies referred to in Article 4, paragraph 19, of the Paris Agreement towards just transitions to net zero emissions by or around mid-century, taking into account different national circumstances. The paragraph 25, invited Parties to update the strategies regularly, as appropriate, in line with the best available science.
Parties who wish to communicate their long-term strategy to the secretariat are invited to send their submissions to LT-LEDS@unfccc.int.
