- Background
Pursuant to decision 23/CMA.3, paragraph 3, the COP notes the limitations to progress and limited progress in the implementation of the functions and modalities of the forum and of certain activities in the workplan by the forum, including due to the exceptional circumstances, and thus the COP requests the secretariat to hold a two-day workshop in conjunction with SB 56 to further advance the implementation of workplan activities 3, 4 and 11.
- Description
The two-day workshop will be held under the guidance of the Chairs of the SBSTA and the SBI and convene Parties, observers, experts and other stakeholders of interest.
The workshop will focus on the following workplan activities:
Activity 3 - Facilitate the development, enhancement, customization and use of tools and methodologies for modelling and assessing the impacts of the implementation of response measures, including identifying and reviewing existing tools and approaches in data-poor environments, in consultation with technical experts, practitioners and other relevant stakeholders;
Activity 4 - Enhance the capacity and understanding of Parties, through collaboration and input from stakeholders, on the assessment and analysis of the impacts of the implementation of response measures to facilitate the undertaking of economic diversification and transformation and just transition; and
Activity 11 - Facilitate, exchange and share experiences and best practices in the assessment of the environmental, social and economic co-benefits of climate change policies and actions informed by the best available science, including the use of existing tools and methodologies.
The workshop will provide a space for Parties and stakeholders to reflect views, share experiences and best practices on the related workplan activities with a view to further advancing the implementation of those activities. The discussion will be informed by the work of KCI, including its annual report and the technical papers.
The workshop will be open to Parties and observers.
