We invite you to an intergenerational dialogue to explore the links between climate adaptation and the urgency for just, green and resilient recovery Post-COVID-19, particularly paying attention to how can youth be supported to meaningfully engage and participate in adaptation action. This event is a technical expert meeting on adaptation (TEM-A).

The session will include discussions on 1) What would an intergenerational vision for a just, green and resilient recovery post-COVID-19 look like, particularly in the context of the need to adapt to the impacts of climate change? ; 2)  Which are the challenges and possibilities involved in realising a just, green and resilient recovery post-COVID-19 through an intergenerational approach that incorporates adaptation action?; 3) How can collaborative adaptation action be catalysed in the context of a post-COVID-19 recovery through an intergenerational approach in which youth are supported, including their leadership, expertise and actions on-the-ground?

The panel discussion will be moderated by the Adaptation Working Group from YOUNGO, the Youth and Children Constituency to the UNFCCC. Speakers will include youth representatives working in climate and adaptation, and established adaptation professionals. There will also be opportunities for interaction and Q&As with the audience.

About the TEP-A:

The technical examination process on adaptation (TEP-A) was established at COP 21 as part of the enhanced action prior to 2020 in the decision adopting the Paris Agreement.  And the technical expert meetings on adaptation (TEM-A) are the core of this process. The TEP-A seeks to identify concrete opportunities for strengthening resilience, reducing vulnerabilities, and increasing the understanding and implementation of adaptation actions. The process is organized by the SBSTA and SBI and conducted by the Adaptation Committee. Volunteer organizations are invited to lead the organization of relevant technical expert meetings.

Each year topics of particular relevance to Parties and non-Party stakeholders are addressed.

The topic for the TEP-A in 2020 is "Education and training, public participation and youth to enhance adaptation action."

The TEP-A events in 2020 will take place over several months, with events and related activities beginning in June and concluding in October with a wrap-up event. It will include creative ideas for policy briefs and case studies, video messages, virtual talks and workshops, art competitions and more.
