Information webinar on ACE - Details: This event will provide a summary of views gathered through submissions, collated in the information note as well as inputs to the 8th ACE Dialogue in 2020, so that Parties and observers may be fully informed in preparation for expert group meetings and informal consultations.

2nd virtual consultations on the Review of the Doha work programme on Article 6 of the Convention - Details: 

The second virtual informal consultations will focus on possible elements and create a structure for the discussions. Recommendations received through submissions, workshops and Dialogues identify possible elements, action or activities with different characteristics.

1st expert group meeting on ACE - Details: The first expert group meeting will enable a technical discussion on how monitoring, reporting and evaluation of national action on ACE can be voluntarily implemented under existing transparency rules and arrangements.

3rd virtual consultations on the Review of the Doha work programme on Article 6 of the Convention - Details: The third virtual informal consultations will continue to discuss elements, including how to balance work across all six elements of ACE in an integrated manner.

2nd expert group meeting on ACE - Details: The second expert group meeting will enable a technical discussion on support to implementation, including climate finance and capacity-building.

19 May 2021

20:00 - 21:30 CEST

4th virtual consultations on the Review of the Doha work programme on Article 6 of the Convention - Details: The fourth informal consultations will focus on how the ACE work programme will be implemented, including inputs from the expert group meetings, and possible next steps.

Secretariat briefing to Parties and observer states on the 2022-2023 programme budget

Date: 24 March 2021 / Time: 16:00 to 18:00 CET, and 

Date: 25 March 2021 / Time: 08:00 to 10:00 CET

Details: Pursuant to decision 17/CP.25, paragraph 3, the secretariat, in an effort to engage Parties early in the budget preparation process, is pleased to invite Parties and observer States to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Kyoto Protocol and the Paris Agreement to a virtual briefing on the proposed programme budget for the biennium 2022-2023.

Briefing material, including a presentation on the proposed programme budget, will be made available on the UNFCCC budget webpage at https://unfccc.int/about-us/budget on Wednesday 17 March 2021.

On 5 March the Secretariat provided a notification to Parties and observer States, including information on how to register to participate in the live Q&A sessions scheduled for 24 and 25 March.

Consultations on matters related to the Fourth review of the Adaptation Fund

Details: The SBI Chair will engage Parties in discussing ways to advance technical work on the Fourth Review of the Adaptation Fund.

Informal meeting of the SB Chairs with observers

Date: 29 April 2021
Time: 15:00 to 16:15 CEST

Details: The objective of this meeting is for the SB Chairs to update interested observer organizations on the current planning for the June session and informal activities that have been planned and to create space for observer organizations to share their views and expectations on the organization and the work of SBs.

Information event on the work of the Least Developed Countries Expert Group in supporting the least developed countries on adaptation

Date: 4 May 2021
Time: 13:00 to 14:30 CEST (postponed from 12 April 2021 / 13:00 to 14:30 CEST)

Details: The information event by the Least Developed Countries Expert Group, under the guidance of the SBI Chair, will focus on the formulation and implementation of NAPs and will discuss the following specific topics:
a) Needs for the LDCs to effectively formulate and implement NAPs;
b) Progress made by the LDCs in the formulation and implementation of NAPs;
c) Accessing funding from the GCF for the formulation and implementation of NAPs;
d) Highlights from recently submitted NAPs.

Consultations by the SB Chairs on the Koronivia joint work on agriculture

Date: 13 April 2021
Time: 14:00 to 15:30 CEST

Objective: The SB Chairs will invite Parties to share their views with regards to possible next steps for the Koronivia Joint Work on Agriculture in preparing a report to COP 26 on the progress and outcomes of the work.

Details: The SB Chairs will invite Parties to reflect on SED 1.1. and seek any additional guidance on the SEDs to inform SED 1.2 and subsequent SEDs.

Consultations on matters relating to Capacity-building

Date: 5 May 2021
Time: 16:00 to 17:30 CEST

Details:

The SBI Chair will discuss with Parties opportunities for streamlining UNFCCC Capacity-Building (CB) arrangements, and the process for monitoring and review the implementation of the CB frameworks. In particular, the SBI Chair would like to invite Parties’ views on :

  • The 5th review of the implementation of the framework for  capacity-building for Economies in Transition (EITs) both under the Convention and the Kyoto Protocol. The discussion could focus on understanding from Parties their expectations on the outcomes of this review and the linkages with the current capacity-building arrangements.
  • The 4th review of the implementation of the framework for capacity-building under the Kyoto Protocol. The discussion could focus on understanding what Parties expectations are for this review and explore options for streamlining the process towards concluding the review this year and align future reviews, building on the process and outcomes of the 4th review under the Convention that took place at COP 25.
