The COP encourages (3/CP.25 para. 11) Parties to appoint and provide support for an NGCCFP for climate negotiations, implementation and monitoring.
Under the enhanced Lima work programme on gender and its gender action plan (Decision 3/CP.25); the secretariat was requested, with the contribution of the national gender and climate change focal points (NGCCFP), Parties and relevant organizations, to organize an in-session workshop at SB 52 to discuss and clarify the role and the work of the NGCCFP, and prepare a paper drawing on the recommendations on the role brought in the in-session workshop (GAP Activity A.2.). Due to the global COVID-19 situation, the in-session workshop has been postponed. To ensure momentum and to ensure the achievement of the expected deliverables, the secretariat is organising virtual workshops from June to October 2020, and will conclude with a in-person session in 2021.
Material and videos of the open events are available on this webpage.
