Preparing a greenhouse gas inventory under the Enhanced Transparency Framework Short info: This course introduces basic concepts on Measurement, Reporting and Verification (MRV), UNFCCC reporting requirements and the Enhanced transparency framework (ETF). It provides an overview of how to set up a National greenhouse gas inventory (NGHGI), looking at its cycle, main elements and principles, and the implications of the ETF. This course will also guide countries wanting to strengthen institutional and technical capacities in national entities. |

The national greenhouse gas inventory for land use Short info: This course is designed for staff in relevant national agencies tasked with preparing the national GHG inventory for agriculture. It is also useful for climate change experts that would like to increase their knowledge on how to estimate emissions from this sector. |

The national greenhouse gas inventory for agriculture Short info: The course has a series of exercises that simulate the work of a GHG inventory compiler to allow users to gradually apply the knowledge acquired. In light of the Enhanced Transparency Framework requirements, compilers have to use the 2006 IPCC Guidelines. The course examines methodological improvements and requirements among the different versions of the IPCC Guidelines and aims at fostering a smooth transition. |

Introduction to Environmental Law and Policy Short info: Environmental law may be the one institution standing between us and planetary exhaustion. It is also an institution that needs to be reconciled with human liberty and economic aspirations. This course considers these issues and provides a tour though existing legal regimes governing pollution, water law, endangered species, toxic substances, environmental impact analyses, and environmental risk. |

Climate Change Mitigation in Developing Countries Short info: This course will cover topics such as facilitation process techniques, energy modeling, scenario building, innovation and policy making. You will have the opportunity to respond to these topics with ideas and reflection from your own context. Whether you are a climate change practitioner, work in development or are simply curious about how climate mitigation is understood, this course will give you insights into the complexity of how countries from the South pursue development goals while addressing climate mitigation. |

Sustainable Regional Development Model - A community-based model for climate change mitigation and adaptation. Short info: The webinar introduced Green Asia Network’s Sustainable Development Model (SRDM), which is based on the four strategic objectives of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification’s (UNCCD). SRDM is an interlinked model that underpins all Green Asia Network activities with the aim of creating a sustainable cycle that provides both economic opportunities for local communities and supports the distribution and growth of climate change mitigation and adaptation efforts. In recognition of the impact of SRDM-projects in Mongolia, the UNCCD Secretariat awarded Green Asia Network the Land for Life Award in 2014. |

Growing internationally-recognized greenhouse gas professionals in your country Short info: Capacity building programs have helped REDD+ countries start to develop forest carbon monitoring and accounting programs, inventories, and REDD+ reference levels. Yet many countries still lack a sufficient number of domestically trained terrestrial carbon accounting (TCA) professionals. Carbon accounting helps countries devise appropriate mitigation plans, and is also the core metric to evaluate whether countries’ are meeting their national and international climate change aspirations. Additionally, countries with more advanced carbon accounting professionals will likely be able to attract more climate finance for their proposals. This webinar aimed to help countries develop their own national core of GHG experts, for both inventories and mitigation. Topics included reporting requirements of the Paris Agreement, overview of existing capacities, how to grow a national GHG team, and on-line and in-person ideas for moving forward. |

Chinese carbon market and green finance development. Short info: China has been running seven pilot carbon emission trading schemes (ETS) for approximately five years, and is currently establishing its national carbon ETS based on the experiences of the pilot ETS. As a market-based policy tool, the Chinese local carbon markets have contributed to carbon emission reductions in pilot provinces and cities, raised awareness of carbon pricing among participated enterprises, and played a key role in the development of a broader green financing mechanism that facilitates the economy’s transition to sustainable growth. |
