Background

Strategic workstream (c) of the five-year workplan of the Executive Committee of the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage (WIM Excom) is to enhance cooperation and facilitation in relation to comprehensive risk management (CRM) approaches (including assessment, reduction, transfer and retention). The WIM Excom, at its seventh meeting (March 2018), developed the terms of reference for the Technical Expert Group on Comprehensive Risk Management (TEG-CRM). 

The first meeting of the TEG-CRM took place on 29-30 August 2019 and developed a Plan of Action (PoA) to help the WIM Excom implement the activities of strategic workstream (c) of the WIM Excom’s five-year rolling workplan. The PoA was approved by the WIM Excom at its tenth meeting in October 2019. Since then, expert members of the TEG-CRM have been working to implement the PoA.
