What is the Special Climate Change Fund?
The Special Climate Change Fund (SCCF) was established to finance activities, programmes and measures
relating to climate change, that are complementary to those supported by other funding mechanism for the
implementation of the Convention. The Global Environment Facility (GEF) has been entrusted to operate the
SCCF.
The SCCF focuses on: adaptation; technology transfer and capacity building; energy; transport; industry;
agriculture; forestry and waste management; and economic diversification.
COP 18 requested the GEF, through the SCCF, to consider how to enable activities for the preparation of
national adaptation plan (NAP) process for interested developing country Parties that are not least
developed country Parties.
