Bonn Climate Change Conference - May 2007

The twenty-sixth sessions of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and the Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change was held from 7-18 May 2007. The third session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol (AWG) was held from 14-18 May. The third workshop under the Dialogue on long-term cooperative action to address climate change by enhancing implementation of the Convention took place from 16-17 May 2007. All meetings were held at the Hotel Maritim, Bonn, Germany.

7-18 May: Twenty-sixth session of the Subsidiary Bodies
14-18 May: Third session of the Ad Hoc Working Group on Further Commitments for Annex I Parties under the Kyoto Protocol
14 May: AWG round table discussion on mitigation potentials of policies, measures and technologies
16-17 May: Dialogue on long-term cooperative action to address climate change by enhancing implementation of the Convention

In-session workshops

11 May: Workshop on the proposal of the Russian Federation to develop appropriate procedures for the approval of voluntary commitments
11 May: Workshop on urban planning and development, including transportation
15 May: Workshop on energy efficiency, including industry, and residential and commercial end-use
15 May: Workshop on power generation, including clean fossil fuels and renewable energy

Briefings

12 May: Briefing by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC): the IPCC will provide an in-depth report on the contributions of the three working groups to the Fourth Assessment Report

Other meetings

Revised dates for the intersessional meetings of the AWG and the Dialogue:
Following consultations with the Bureau, the dates of the intersessional meetings of the AWG and the Dialogue have been moved forward by one week to 27-31 August 2007 due to a parallel conference in Vienna and a lack of available hotels in the originally scheduled time period.
