At SBSTA 20 (Bonn, June 2004) Parties agreed on the next steps in implementing decision
13/CP.7. In implementing these steps, the SBSTA requested the secretariat to organize a
round-table discussion on policies and measures at its twenty-second session. The SBSTA also
requested the secretariat to provide information on different options for sharing of information and
exchange of experiences, including the use of web-based options.
At SBSTA 21 (Buenos Aires, December 2004) Parties initiated considerations of the information on
options for sharing information and exchange of experiences on policies and measures contained
in document FCCC/SBSTA/2004/INF.10.
Unable to conclude on this issue, the SBSTA agreed to continue its considerations at at its
twenty-second session.
At SBSTA 22 (Bonn, May 2005) Parties continued the considerations on this issue. The SBSTA agreed to
consider next steps in facilitating the exchange of information and sharing experiences on policies
and measures of Annex I Parties at its twenty-fourth session.
On 24 May 2005, the Chair of the SBSTA convened the round-table discussion on policies and
measures in Bonn, Germany. The three-hours event focussed on domestic and international aspects
of Annex I policies and measures, and on cross-cutting issues. The SBSTA welcomed the exchange
of information and views among Parties during the round‑table discussion and expressed its
appreciation to the speakers and to the participants for making it a successful event.
At SBSTA 24 (Bonn, May 2006), Parties considered information on options for approaches to the
sharing of experiences and the exchange of information on policies and measures of Parties included
in Annex I to the Convention (Annex I Parties). The SBSTA invited Parties to submit to the
secretariat, by 1 March 2008, their views on the need for further events to facilitate the exchange
of information and the sharing of experiences on policies and measures of Annex I Parties. It
requested the secretariat to compile those views into a miscellaneous document for consideration by
SBSTA 28 (Bonn, June 2008).
